RV DeepOcean Quest survives Hurricane Katrina; but refit completion date delayed

RV DeepOcean Quest was undergoing the final stages of its refit in Gulfport, Mississippi, when Hurricane Katrina hit the city on August 28th. Despite widespread devastation of the waterfront area, the ship survived without significant damage. However, some of the ship's equipment stored ashore was lost.

Due to the total loss of infrastructure in the Gulfport region and severe damage to shipyard facilities it is expected that the completion of RV DeepOcean Quest's refit will be delayed by several months.
