RV AKADEMIK SHOKALSKIY

For many of our tropical voyages we use the mothership RV Akademik Shokalskiy. She is an ideal floating hotel and submersible/dive/snorkel support vessel. Built in the 1980's, she was designed as a Russian government oceanographic research ship.

An excellent feature of Akademik Shokalskiy is a very large open aft deck area close to the waterline. This serves as the dive preparation and storage area. Additional open deck space allows comfortable "sun bathing" and viewing.

The vessel is equipped with three Bauer Marine dive compressors, ample dive tanks and other necessary support equipment. The vessel will carry five Mark V heavy duty Zodiacs for our on water transportation requirements. RV Shokalskiy also features a Finnish sauna and bar/recreational area.
